Is this the end for someone with cirrhosis?

My step-father in law has stage 3 Cirrhosis of the liver and also Portal Hypertension. He has recently started drinking again, and last night started violently vomiting up blood. Is this the end for him? We've always known he was going to die from this, we just didnt know when to expect it? Does this sound like its the end? And how long do you think he has? Thanks you in advance. I would really appreciate some serious answers. Thank you.
