How can we add science into our movie?

Me and my friends are creating a special effects movie as part of receiving a Crest award. The person awarding the crest award would like us to add some science into it. We were planning on making a gun duel sequence using a Fuji HS10, FXHome Visionlab Studio and Final Cut Pro. We were thinking mabye making our own smoke bombs for smoke fx and stuff like that, can you give me an idea for more stuff to put in a movie? Thanks, Oliver
